In this seminar, we will discuss the transformative potential of interventionist, engaged and 'video as research' filmmaking and draw new approaches of symbiosis between filmmaking, social-anthropology and activism. We will explore the transformative and methodological potential of the selected films and the value of the collaborative co-creative, decolonizing and transformative approach of 'video as research' methodologies with the aim to produce something of local value.
We will explore 3 projects in Africa, Latin America and Europe with 2 invited guest-lecturers: Ecofeminist filmmaker Soledad Fernández Bouzo, sociologist, doctor in social sciences and CONICET researcher at the Gino Germani Institute in Buenos Aires. Video artist, filmmaker and cultural worker Ayşe Kalmaz dedicates herself to various art, theatre and online cultural projects with a focus on intercultural conflicts, racism and migration, based in Dortmund. The seminar creates also space to develop your own interventionist, transformative documentary. Bring your ideas, questions, projects in the making.
