German Development Media Awards Deutsche Welle and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) would like to thank all photographers who entered the People's Choice Award for Human Rights Photography in Africa award. More than 130 photographers from across the continent submitted entries. The finalists have been selected and their photographs are now ready for voting by the public. In order to be fair, the front page of the voting gallery will display a different photograph each time the gallery is launched, and photographs will also appear in a random order.You may cast a single vote for as many photographs as you like. We hope this will encourage voters to consider the merits of each photograph.

The German Development Media Awards recognize outstanding reporting on human rights and development. These Awards are a new initiative by the German Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ) and Germany's international broadcaster, Deutsche Welle.
Der Deutsche Medienpreis Entwicklungspolitik würdigt Journalistinnen und Journalisten für herausragende Arbeiten zu den Themen Menschenrechte und Entwicklung. Er wird vom Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung in Kooperation mit der Deutschen Welle vergeben.
