The horror of the real

The horror of the real explores the intersection of fictional and documentary films, both portraying the gruesomeness and pain innate to experiences rooted in reality.

It may be the intuition that something uncanny is surrounding you on the way to the

supermarket, even though there is no material evidence for it. It may be the sonic memory of a destructive act you had to witness. It may appear as a highly subjective perception or one of collective character.

Together we would like to take a closer look at different stories, human and non-human, mundane as well as extraordinary and find out why they terrify us.

In this autonomous seminar we will show a horror film each month that dissects the concept of reality. Afterwards there is going to be an open discussion.
