Vagabond (2010-11) - 1 channel video (filmed in Tehran, PAL, digital, with sound, 18 minutes)
This work is a part of an ongoing series of studies on digital means and manipulation of time based images. This piece is an 18 minutes long fade-in from black to a quite fast pasted image sequence and a fade-out from sound to silence, expanding the idea of "cut" and "fade-in/out" in video editing, to examine the use of these concepts in visual/sonic dramaturgy in the medium of video.
Here the notion of "change" in storytelling is reduced or simplified to: moving from state A to state B, from one mode of seeing to another. In both modes nothing specific can be seen, but in two different ways.
For these series of studies, very simple tools in video editing applications are used in a banal way to manipulate the image in longer durations, such as brightness-contrast or hue-saturation sliders.
