Listening Laboratory: Listening and Graphic Notation

Listening is not neutral. It is not only a physiological act. What and how we hear is shaped by habits, memories, environments, pasts, presents and our relationships with others. The Listening Laboratory explores listening as an active, embodied and subjective process.

As input for some output we look at graphic notation and listening scores and explore how drawings, symbols, texts and instructions can document sonic experiences, direct attention or initiate new situations of listening and sounding.

In a risography workshop we will collectively produce a small publication of our scores and notations.
