Prof. Isabel Herguera schreibt zu ihrem neuen Film: „'Sultana’s Dream' is a book that fell into my hands while I was sheltering from the rain in a bookstore in India. The cover depicted two women piloting a retro-futuristic helicopter. I turned the book around and read about Ladyland, a place where women are in command of politics and sciences, and men stay at home and take care of the domestic chores. The story was written in 1905 by Begum Rokeya Hossein, a Muslim woman who grew up in a very traditional household where women lived in confinement and without access to a formal education. This ironic tale of a feminist utopia was written more than a century ago, and yet the desire of women to feel safe and in command of their lives felt very contemporary. Before I finished reading it, I knew this was a film I wanted to make."
