Die schwedische Animationskünstlerin Niki Lindroth von Bahr ist am 30 Mai zu Gast an der KHM. Mit ihren Kurzfilmen "Bath House" (2014) und "Tord" (2010) war sie bei den großen internationalen Festivals wie der Berlinale, dem Sundance Film Festival und dem Animationsfilmfestival in Annecy vertreten. Ihr neuester Film „The Burden“ feierte 2017 beim Filmfestival in Cannes nicht nur seine Uraufführung, sondern gewann in Annecy und Toronto und weiteren zehn Festivals.

Prof. Isabel Herguera, Leiterin des Animationsstudios an der KHM, hat die junge Künstlerin und Filmemacherin an die KHM eingeladen.

Niki Lindroth von Bahr (*1984) ist nicht nur eine ausgezeichnete Animationskünstlerin sondern auch  Bildhauerin und Kostümdesignerin. 2016 absolvierte sie ein Studium am Royal Institute of Art (RIA) in Stockholm. Sie entwarf und realisierte für David Bowies Musikvideo „Blackstar“ die künstlerische Ausstattung.

"The Burden" (2017, 14 Min.) ist ein animiertes Musical mit apokalyptischem Unterton. In einem großen Einkaufszentrum tanzen und singen Tiere in vier Episoden in einem Supermarkt, einem Hotel, einem Callcenter und einem Burger-Restaurant. Die Episoden variieren sowohl in der Geschichte als auch in der Stimmung und reichen vom fröhlichen Stepptanz bis zum albtraumhaften schwarzen Loch.

"The Burden" ("Min Börda"), Sweden, 2017, 14 min – A dark musical enacted in a modern market place, situated next to a large freeway. The employees of the various commercial venues deal with boredom and existential anxiety by performing cheerful musical turns. The apocalypse is a tempting liberator.

Niki Lindroth von Bahr is an artist and animation director based in Stockholm, Sweden. Her award winning short films Bath House (2014) and Tord and Tord (2010) has been screened at festivals around the world, such as Berlinale, Sundance and Annecy. Nikis new animated musical The Burden (Min börda) had its international premiere in Cannes (Director's Fortnight) 2017. It has since then won numerous awards at festivals all over the world, such as the Cristal for Best Short Film in Annecy and Best International Short Film at Toronto International Film Festival.Along with making her own films, Niki also works with sculpture and costume design. In 2016, she and Nicklas Nilsson designed and made the costumes for David Bowies music video Blackstar.
