Adam Harvey spricht an der KHM über das Für und Wider von visuellen Überwachungstechnologien und ihre neuen Trends – dies auch am Beispiel eigener Werke und Forschung. Harveys Vortrag zielt auf die Frage, wie wir uns einer Gesellschaft anpassen, die immer mehr maschinelles Sehen und Datenanalysen verwendet und sie zum Kern unserer sozialen Interaktionen macht.

Adam Harvey ist Künstler und unabhängiger Forscher mit Sitz in Berlin. Seine Arbeit umfasst die Entwicklung / Enttarnung von Gesichtserkennung (CV Dazzle, 2010), Anti-Drohnen-Kleidung (Stealth Wear, 2013), einen faradayschen Telefonkasten (OFF Tasche, 2013) und einen WiFi-Geolocation-Emulator (SKYLIFT, 2016).

Die KHM-Reihe Medienkatastrophe präsentiert Vorträge zum veränderten Verhältnis von Kunst und Technologie im Zuge der Digitalisierung.

Adam Harvey will present in the serial lecture "Medienkatastrophe" research and artwork about exploiting face detection and military thermal imaging devices. Lecture in English.

Harvey will discuss the pros and cons of countersurveillance as a response and explore new trends in visual surveillance technologies. This talk will aim to open questions for debate about how we will adapt to a world that increasingly uses computer vision, data analysis, and surveillance as the core of social interactions.

Adam Harvey is an artist and independent researcher based in Berlin. His work includes developing camouflage from face detection (CV Dazzle, 2010), anti-drone garments (Stealth Wear, 2013), a faraday cage phone case (OFF Pocket, 2013), and a WiFi geolocation emulator (SKYLIFT, 2016). Harvey's multidisciplinary approach to hacking surveillance technologies has been noted by the New York Times, V&A Museum, Der Spiegel, BBC, and even included in a classified intelligence briefing.
