Beschreibung des Seminars

The Internet is a hyperobject (Morton, 2013), an entity so vast, all encompassing and all consuming that it is almost impossible for us to perceive. Nonetheless it increasingly shapes almost everything about our lives, defining the information we can access, the images we see, the things we buy, the places we go, etc.

"Networked Practice" takes a decentralised, participatory research to the Internet. The core idea is to co-investigate the techno-political-biological networks within which we live together and to work in collaborative constellations of people from different geographies, bodies and minds.

This seminar features contributions from a spectrum of practitioners who inquire into the Internet, from philosophers and anthropologists, to artist and designers. A few examples being Meghan O'Gieblyn; who inquires into the philosophical/spiritual contexts of the Internet, Kohn/Siré; whose practice explores alternative, offline networks, CAMP studio; whose projects reveal the interwoven techno-political networks in which we live and Melisa Allela; whose research reveals the specific ways in contemporary technology is conceived of, and for, white men.

Together we will produce a zine of experimental writing on and about networked technologies, using the open-source writing tool Marginalia.
