Talking, Fabricating Stories, Sharing and Discovering

Kim Hee-seons Recover_seoul ballad no. 1 is the result of her documentary approach to the theme of Rediscovery of Seoul. For this work, the artist traveled diverse districts of Seoul, interviewed many people, conversed with them, and sometimes quoted radio programs and television news reports so as to collect a variety of stories. The artist also encouraged people to send their photographic images to her own e-mail box via the Internet.
With a myriad of stories collected, the artist publishes a walking dictionary of narratives. What the artist intends to achieve is to make the viewer discover traces of Seoul, recall reminiscences and unconsciousness, feel desire and passion, sufficiency and loss, slowness and fastness, hope and despair. The stories fabricated reveal a wide spectrum of the lives of Seoulites, offering the audience a chance to feel a pleasure of discovery.
