Studiofoyer: Diplomausstellung von Shigeru Takato – Cosmic Landscapes

This project deals with landscapes on earth, where relations with our cosmos or outer space are found. The relations could be scientific, mythological, historical, factual and/or religious. We often analyse, philosophise, romanticise and dream about cosmos. Our knowledge of it is limited and much remains unknown and mystery. Landscapes with such relations are so much loaded with our thoughts, beliefs, ambitions, emotions and imaginations, in search for more clues and knowledge.
We have seen images of lunar landscapes from the late 60's and the 70's. Martian landscape images are now send by NASA's Mars rovers Spirit and Opportunity everyday. But are we seeing anything other than what we expect? Are those landscapes anything beyond our imagination? When we are faced with such images, what are we really seeing? Can we imagine any extraterrestrials which do not look like our usual aliens?
