Michael Hoch received his Ph.D. in Computer Graphics/Media Theory from University Dortmund, Germany which focused on novel gesture based interfaces for film planning. He received his Masters in Computer Science from University Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany with a focus on facial animation with laser scanner data and B-splines. From 93 to 98 he was a Senior Engineer on various applied projects at Apple Computer, Cupertino, the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, Germany, delivering novel wearable interfaces, gesture and vision tracking interfaces for internationally exhibited interactive installations. From 4/98 to 3/00 he was a Lead Engineer at ZKM | Institute for Visual Media (http://www.zkm.de), where he managed multi-national projects delivering novel interaction paradigms and interfaces for broadcast and entertainment. He also gave college level lectures at the State School of Design Karlsruhe, Germany (http://www.hfg-karlsruhe.de). From 2000 to 2004 he was at Sony, San Jose working on next generation user interfaces and prototypes for consumer devices and game platforms. He currently is Director of Prototype Design at Yahoo in Sunnyvale, CA.
