Videoinstallation

Die Installation täuscht eine "Beobachtung " der öffentlichen Toiletten des Kunstraumes durch eine Videoüberwachungsanlage vor.

Auf den Eingangstüren der öffentliche Toilette des Kunstraumes ist folgendes Hinweisschild angebracht:

The installation pretends to observe the public restrooms of the Kunstraum with a surveillance camera.

The entrance of the public restrooms of the Kunstverein is equipped with the following announcement:

"For your own safety these facilities are being monitored".

Erster Teil der Installation 1: Ein Minimonitor zeigt die Toilette des Kunstraumes,

ein kleiner Lautsprecher überträgt zeitgleich den Ton .

First part of the installation: a tiny monitor shows the public restroom of the Kunstraum,

the small speaker is broadcasting the sound simultaneously from the restroom.

Zweiter Teil: Der vermeintliche Blick in das WC erwesit sich jedoch als

"Beobachtung einer Fotografie", die die Toilette des Kunstraumes zeigt.

Dieses Foto und die Videokamera waren wiederum innerhalb der Toilette installiert

Der Ton (Lüftung, Wasserspülung ) wird von dort live zum Minimonitor übertragen.

Second part: The "observation" of the restroom turns out to be an electronic surveillance

of a "photograph of the very toilette". The photograph and the camera were installed within

the restroom itself. The sound (fan, waterflush) is broadcast simultaneously to the minimonitor.

Dritter Teil: Anstatt die Ereignisse in der Toilette zu beobachten wird der Besucher selbst

in seiner Beobachtung observiert. Die Reaktion der Besucher wird in eine "versteckte Ecke" im hinteren

Teil des Kunstraumes auf einen kleinen Monitor übertragen.

Third Part: Instead of watching "events in the restrooms" the visitor is actually

being monitored himself/herself. aThe visitors reactions are broadcast to a hidden corner at the end of the Kunstraum.
