Best of KHM-Movies
Since the winter semester of 2003, the Academy of Media Arts Cologne regularly presents the debut and graduation films of its graduates to the public. After the film screenings a professor of the Film and Television Section moderates a discussion with the authors and directors present, at which the audience can learn about the processes of how the films were created and the production conditions for young film makers in Germany.

Open Days - Yearly exhibitions at the KHM
The best opportunity to gain an overall impression of the course offerings and the projects of the students are the Open Days, former “Altitude”, which are held once a year. In exhibitions, film and video programmes, everything that was produced in the past year is presented to the visitors; some of the workshops and laboratories offer glimpses of the creation and realisation of future projects and research. “Altitude” regularly attracts several thousand visitors from all over the country and from abroad — as well as prospective applicants to the Academy, cognoscenti, the press, and people who are merely curious; increasingly gallery owners and curators make their selections on the spot.
Showcase
Once a year, the Academy of Media Arts Cologne invites the film, television, and media industry to Cologne to view at the current productions. The event takes place at the Cinenova cinema, and lasts for two days, always at the beginning of October. It presents a selection of feature films and documentaries to around 150 invited producers, editors, festival directors, sponsors, and journalists. Additionally, material for long films is presented at a so-called “Pitch”. The aim of this event, which is organised by the Film and Television Section and the Press and Public Relations Office, is that the young directors and authors make contact with their future partners while they are still students. It offers the representatives of the industry a compact overview of the productions and insight into the education concepts at the Academy. Showcase is also the place to initiate co-productions and pave the way for sales.
