Friends of KHM e. V.
The Academy of Media Arts Cologne, the only German art college with the goal of furthering the artistic and theoretical development of all audiovisual media, was made possible by the North Rhine-Westphalia art college legislation of 1987 and opened in 1990. With its diverse programme of courses, it fits to the character of Cologne—a city of art and media—in a very special way.
A young college requires—even more so than other, established colleges—the ideals and material support of the general public. The Friends of the KHM e.V. serves this purpose. Although it was very consciously a newly founded college, the Academy of Media Arts Cologne continues in the tradition of the old Kölner Werkschulen (1879–1993). However, not only does it maintain the tradition of fine art education in Cologne, it also expands this forward into the future with its specialisation in the field of new audiovisual media.
It was therefore only logical that the circle of patrons and friends, founded in 1924 to support the Kölner Werkschulen, decided in 1993 that in order to serve the fine arts in Cologne, it would support the Academy of Media Arts Cologne and its students in a variety of ways. In order to be able to fulfil this mission effectively, the society needs new members and donors. We therefore invite you to also support the goals of this charitable body.
